Resolving missing and duplicate scans
Updated
by Matthew Yarro
A case missing one or more scans is flagged with a Missing scan alert (
) or a Missing scan status, depending on the test used. A case with too many or identical scans is flagged with a Duplicate scans alert. These issues must be resolved before you can review a case.
Missing scan alert
The Missing scan alert (
) and “Waiting for Scan” status appear when a case has no scans. Before it can be reviewed, a case must have at least one associated scan.
To resolve a Missing scan alert:
- Click the Missing scan alert (
) for the selected case. - When the Details page opens, click Link scan.
- When the New target scan dialog opens, Use the search input or scroll bar to find the correct scan.
Note: The missing scan may result from a misread or unreadable barcode. Using the Edit scan dialog to correct a scan’s barcode will automatically link the scan to the correct case.
Note: The Include merged scans checkbox includes scans associated with another case in the results. - Click the Select link for the desired scan. Clicking the link associates the scan to the case and closes the New Target Scan dialog.
Note: Clicking Cancel (X) closes the New target scan dialog without linking a scan.
Important: If a user cannot find the correct scan, they may need to rescan the slide before it can be associated with a case displaying the Missing scan alert.
Missing scans status
When a case has the Missing scans status, the case is missing one or more scans based on the requirements for that case’s test type.
To resolve missing scans:
- Click View details (
) for the selected case. - When the Details page opens, click Link scan.
- When the New target scan dialog opens, Use the search input or scroll bar to find the correct scan.
Important: The Missing scans status remains in effect until the required number of scans are associated with the case. If a case requires three scans, you must find and link the three scans to resolve the Missing scans status.
Important: If a user cannot find the correct scan, they may need to rescan the slide before it can be associated with a case displaying the Missing scans status.
Duplicate scans
The Duplicate scans alert and status appear when a case has two or more identical scans associated with it or more scans than expected.
To resolve the duplicate scans alert:
- Click the Duplicate scans alert (
) for the selected case. - When the Details page opens, review the scans associated with the case.
- If the case has more scans associated with it than expected, you must unlink one or more scans until only the expected number of scans remains.
- Click View slide for each scan to determine which scan(s) are duplicates, and then click Unlink scan to unlink the unnecessary scans.
- The duplicate scans alert no longer appears once the case has the correct number of scans with no duplicates.
