Scan details
The Scan details view displays information for an orphaned scan, including tools to link the scan to the correct case. Only scans displaying the Orphan scan alert (
) can access this view, which provides tools to link the scan to the correct case.
To access the Scan Details view:
- Click Main Menu (
). - Click the Scans link.
- When Scans opens, click Orphan scan () for a scan.

Scan details features
Element | Description |
Scan information | The Scan details view contains data points and features to help you identify the scan and which case the scan belongs to. |
Scan barcode | The scan’s barcode. Important: The Scan barcode was either translated from the scan’s label or manually entered. For several reasons, the barcode could have been entered incorrectly, resulting in the Orphan scan alert. Fixing the scan’s barcode and clicking Update barcode may automatically link the scan to the correct case. |
Label thumbnail | Click to open the scan in Slide view. Important: If you can’t read the slide’s name from the label thumbnail, you can right-click on the thumbnail and click Open image in new tab to view a larger image of the thumbnail. |
Delete scan | Click to delete the scan. For more information, view Linking, unlinking, and deleting a scan. |
Create case | Click to create a case for an orphan scan. For more information, view Resolving missing and duplicate scans. |
Search for case | Click to review and search for existing cases that may match the orphan scan. For more information, view Linking, unlinking, and deleting a scan. |
Update barcode | Click to force the Sporecyte application to re-evaluate an orphan scan’s Scan barcode and possibly link the scan to the correct case. For more information, view Linking, unlinking, and deleting a scan. |
